Workers stand against 4 discriminations in Teletalk
Employees of the state-owned mobile operator Teletalk formed a human chain to take urgent action against four discriminations and irregularities in the organization. On Sunday, they staged a sit-in in front of the RAJUK Commercial Complex building.
Under the banner of Teletalk Employees Welfare Association-TEWA, there were 4 points what they found discriminatory against Teletalk employees by the administration. The points are: stopping political partisanship and taking action against the culprits; By revising the promotion policy, arranging for the promotion of those who have been deprived of promotion for a long time; Increase in salary, CPF, gratuity and other benefits and cancellation of deputation / lien.
Speakers at the program also highlighted these disparities.
1) Stop political partisanship and take action against the culprits: In violation of Article 4.8 and 4.9 of the employment rules of Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd., a political interest-seeking group named ‘Bangabandhu Engineering Council’ has been enjoying illegal benefits, illegal power for a long time. Unbridled arbitrariness has been taking place along with taking financial benefits through fictionalization of job promotions and projects. As a result, ordinary workers are constantly discriminated against and pent-up anger and resentment accumulate among them. It is very important to take action against all the members of the "Bangabandhu Engineering Council Advisory Council and Executive Committee" from Teletalk as soon as possible according to their respective service rules.
2) Revision of the promotion policy for the promotion of those who have been denied promotion for a long time: Although almost 20 years have passed since the formation of Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd., it has not been able to form a full promotion policy until now, even since the promotion from DGM to Additional GM and Additional GM to GM has been blocked, they have been deprived of promotion and accepted discrimination. Promotion policies at all levels including promotion from DGM to Additional GM and from Additional GM to GM should be revised and implemented.
3) Enhancement of Salary, CPF, Gratuity and other benefits: All State Owned or Government Companies should be provided with all benefits in all respects, such as pay scale adjustment (implementation of arrears/remaining 50%), arrears of CPF ( 10%), gratuity at the rate of 2 (two) months of last drawn basic pay for every full year of continuous service beyond 10+ years, provision of 100% encashment of accrued leave taken, introduction of group insurance (joint insurance) including medical insurance; Age limit of 62 years of service with payment of 15 (fifteen) days retirement leave (including retirement allowance) once for consecutive years of service.
Abolition of deputation / lien: Blocking promotion from DGM to Additional GM and Additional GM to GM in Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd. without any circular or recruitment test from BTTB/BTCL/Department of Telecommunications (DOT) despite having no experience in mobile telecommunication. Appointments are made on deputation/lien at will and all facilities are provided. As a result, on the one hand, despite having more qualifications, general employees of the said post are forced to serve in the same post for about 15 years, obstacles are created in the posts below DGM and discrimination is recognized professionally, socially and economically, on the other hand, professional skilled and experienced persons are appointed in different departments. Failure to do so will cause irreparable damage to the company. Therefore, immediate cancellation of deputation/lien should be done and proper and qualified candidates should be posted in the right place on priority to the deprived.
The main objective of TEWA is to establish justice to the country's only state-owned mobile network operator, its employees, and above all to the state system by taking action against the above discrimination and irregularities. In order to achieve this goal, TEWA has taken a sit-in program in front of RAJUK Commercial Complex Bhaban (Gulshan-1) of Teletalk Bangladesh Limited today at 19/08/2024 AD at 11 AM.
